Friends! Exciting news I wanted to share. The excellent folks at Island Press—planning’s preeminent publishing house—and Exasperated Infrastructures are now officially working together. To no one’s surprise, I’ll be reviewing books they publish; there’ll be an opportunity to win a copy each book just for being a subscriber and everyone will get a discount code! There also might be a rekindling of online/offline book chats should the opportunity and serendipity arise.

This is a great, exasperated step forward and will help sustain the work I do here. The first book I’ll review—paired with an interview—is Right of Way: Race, Class, and the Silent Epidemic of Pedestrian Deaths in America by the excellent Angie Schmitt. This review will dovetail nicely with a review of some of the published reports on pedestrian fatalities, authored by my friends at Smart Growth America. There’s an epidemic—and it’s only growing—of death on our streets. What are we doing about it? Stay tuned.
