A few weeks ago, my pal Miles alerted me to the stupidest possible challenge I’ve ever heard of: The Cannonball Run Challenge.
The premise is this: idiots attempt to drive from a very specific parking garage in New York City to a hotel in Los Angeles as fast as possible: ~2,906 miles across the United States at breakneck speeds, maybe some holds barred. There’s a whole Wikipedia article and a whole stupid movie (with Burt Reynolds and Dom DeLuise, Farrah Fawcett, Jackie Chan, and James Freakin’ Bond) dedicated to this half-cooked disregard for public safety for the sake of speed and efficiency.
